We start with a thorough evaluation to understand your unique needs. This includes talking through your history, how you’re feeling now, and any challenges you’re facing. We also look at your overall mental health, create a clear diagnosis when needed, and check for any immediate risks to ensure you’re safe and supported.
We carefully prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications to ensure they’re safe and effective for you. This includes checking for side effects, coordinating with your primary care doctor when needed, and thoughtfully managing medications. For ADHD, we require formal testing to ensure an accurate diagnosis, and for certain medications like benzodiazepines, we focus on safe, time-limited use with tapering support when appropriate.
We believe in a team approach to your care. With your permission, we can communicate with your primary care doctor, therapist, or other care providers to keep everyone on the same page. We also provide progress updates when needed to ensure your treatment is well-coordinated and fully supports your goals.

Frequently asked questions
Still have questions? Please reach out to us and we'll get back to you shortly.
How do I set up a visit?
When you reach out to Valiant, our staff will first verify your insurance and explain your copay or self-pay options. You’ll then complete intake forms about your health history, current concerns, and insurance details.
The office will collect your copay at each visit and bill your insurance for the remainder. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor your progress and adjust treatment as needed.
Throughout, the clinic emphasizes honest, transparent communication and individualized care, aiming not just to prescribe, but to support you in achieving long-term mental health goals. Many patients appreciate the collaborative approach and the ability to openly discuss sensitive issues in a professional, supportive environment.

What can I expect at the first visit?
During your initial appointment, we will discuss the reasons you are seeking a psychiatric evaluation and possible care. We will explore your medical, psychiatric, and family history, as well as your upbringing, substance use, and current symptoms. Please note that in some cases, completing a thorough assessment may require more than one appointment. If medication is appropriate and you agree, they will be e-prescribed to your preferred pharmacy.
When and how do I pay?
For your convenience, we accept most major insurance carriers, allowing you to access care through your health plan. We also offer self-pay (cash-based) options if you prefer to pay directly for your services. Your services are then billed after each appointment.
At the time of your visit, your primary responsibility is to pay any required copay. Please remember it is your responsibility to ensure we have your current and valid insurance information on file; otherwise, you will be solely responsible for the full cost of services received.

Who will see my information?
Your medical records are confidential and protected by law. We do not share your information without your written consent. However, there are certain exceptions, such as when records are subpoenaed in a legal case or requested for disability applications, where disclosure may be required.
Are medications appropriate for me?
Medication is not always indicated. Some individuals benefit more from other treatment approaches, including psychotherapy. We recommend medication management only when it is clinically appropriate and when the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Do you offer emotional support animal letters?
We recognize the comfort animals can provide, but emotional support animal (ESA) letters are not a primary mental health treatment. Following American Psychiatric Association (APA) and state board guidelines, we do not provide ESA letters unless they are clearly part of an established, documented treatment plan for a diagnosed condition.
Because ESAs do not require formal training, we also cannot assume responsibility for their behavior or the use of such letters. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to maintain ethical, evidence-based care for all our patients.
